Inside Growth Advertising: From IC to Team Lead, Ceci Ruppert Shares Her Top 3 Tips For Growth at Taboola

“Success is never a solo effort, and I’m lucky to work with such talented and supportive people at Taboola.” Meet Ceci Ruppert, Growth Account Management Team Lead for the DACH market at Taboola, who now leads a talented team of Account Managers who help advertisers across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland expand their reach and achieve their goals. 

In just under four years with the company, Ceci has grown from an individual contributor to stepping into a team lead position for the Growth Account Management team. Curious to learn about Ceci’s development journey? She’s sharing her top three tips that contributed to her development, impact, and influence at Taboola and in the digital marketing space.

Tip #1: Embrace curiosity

I joined Taboola almost four years ago as a Growth Account Manager, and what excited me then (and still does) is how each day is different. At the core, the role is all about driving client success, whether digging into performance data, building strategic recommendations, or identifying growth opportunities. Being inquisitive is a top skill that helped me guide advertisers to crush their goals and spot upsell opportunities to help them scale. 

Leading with curiosity and actively taking initiative with clients and internal teams helped me add value and move things forward for clients while moving my career forward.

Tip #2: Strategy and analytical thinking are your best friends

Starting as an individual contributor, I immediately focused on building strong strategic thinking and analytics skills. Early on, I identified a gap in how our team approached upsells, so I took the initiative to develop a more structured, data-led methodology, one of my proudest accomplishments. Not only did it streamline the process, but it made it easier for teams to identify and act on growth opportunities. That initiative was adopted across EMEA, increased upsell success rates, and boosted team confidence and client receptiveness. Leading this initiative helped me step up into the Senior Account Manager role. 

A year into my senior position, I stepped up again when I was promoted to Team Lead after consistently hitting targets, mentoring others, and demonstrating strategic thinking for clients and the wider team. Being proactive, solutions-focused, and collaborative were key to progressing.

Tip #3: Success is never a solo effort

When anyone asks me what I like most about my role, I  emphasize that it’s the opportunity to actively shape the company’s success, knowing it’s never a solo effort, but a true partnership with supportive managers and the team. My biggest impact comes from driving the team forward in both performance and personal development, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to see our decisions, culture, and strategies drive real change across people and business. 

I work closely with each team member, coaching them through tricky client scenarios, refining our internal ways of working, and creating space for them to share ideas and take initiative. My role is about unlocking their potential and keeping us all moving in the right direction together. It also helps working with people who support, challenge, and celebrate each other’s wins!
