Inside SMB Publisher Account Management: Tanya Dhir Reflects on Her 7-Year Journey at Taboola

What I didn’t fully grasp was how much I would grow.” Meet Tanya Dhir, who, after nearly seven years with the company, credits her growth to the genuine people she’s worked with and the empowerment she’s been given to own her development.

Growing from a sales manager in Bangkok to an account management director in EMEA to now a director of publisher account management in London for the optimize global and EMEA SMB teams, Tanya shares how Taboola came into her life at a pivotal time, providing a career opportunity and a fresh start. What was the first thing that made you feel like joining Taboola was the right decision?

One thing that I’ve loved from the get-go and remains one of my favorite things about Taboola is that people care about what they’re doing. My manager, Arthur, is so passionate about our SMB publishers, and I’ve been lucky to work with him from the start! This genuine enthusiasm isn’t just at the top. I’ve been inspired by people from other departments and regions, and this environment has helped me learn to lead across cultures and traditions, and to embrace new geographies as I’ve transitioned roles.

Taboola empowers you to explore what you’re passionate about and excel in it, and beyond my own experiences, I’ve seen people transition across other teams and departments. I am very grateful for this culture that’s helped me grow professionally and personally.

What resources have helped shape your experience here?

The passionate, creative, and dedicated people at Taboola! The people here make every challenge an opportunity to learn. Reflecting on my career, I’m struck by the unwavering support I’ve gotten from my managers, mentors, and team, while still challenging me. People are so accessible, from our leadership to my immediate colleagues. I remember meeting our CEO and being able to walk right up to him and talk. That’s not something you see at every company. I’ve also been lucky to have senior mentors who, despite their busy schedules, have made time for me.

These relationships aren’t just within the office walls. Our SKOs (sales kickoffs) are a huge part of our culture and have helped me build lasting friendships. These connections have been invaluable, providing a network of people I can always reach out to for advice, no matter where they are in the world.

What was it like making the leap from an IC to a team lead?

My journey has been defined by a willingness to embrace new challenges. I came into this company with experience in apps, but my role quickly evolved. I took a chance and pitched the idea of working on web-based deals, which ultimately led to my first promotion.

The biggest test of my adaptability was transitioning from a sales role to a team lead. I had to shift my mindset from being an individual contributor to empowering my team. The focus was no longer on my own deals but on helping my team members succeed and shine, which has been so rewarding.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role on the SMB Publisher Account Management team?

Working with SMB publishers is especially fulfilling because I can see the direct impact of my work. I still have publishers I signed in my first year reaching out to me, years later. Watching these smaller publishers grow and thrive with our help is rewarding. It’s truly a meaningful way to make an impact at scale and build relationships that go beyond a simple business transaction.
