Taboola’s pixel code consists of a base code - attached with your additional code snippets - to track event-based actions. Typically our pixel can define conversions by URL string, but in the case of Shopify additional code snippets need to be added.

The easiest way to track conversions on Shopify is to implement the Taboola Pixel. You can do it two ways:
1. Install the official Taboola Pixel app for Shopify
2. Implement the Taboola Pixel on your Shopify store manually

How to Install the Taboola Pixel App for Shopify
Have you already installed the Taboola Pixel on your Shopify store? Make sure to remove the old pixel before installing the new app. Step-by-step instructions can be found in this article.
If you haven’t installed the Taboola Pixel on your Shopify store yet, follow these steps to set up the app correctly. Complete the steps on Shopify, and then proceed to Realize:
1. Log in to your Shopify store as usual.
2. Open the Taboola Pixel app listing and click Install.
3. After the app is installed, go to the Apps page in your Shopify admin and launch it.
4. Add your Realize ID to the app.
5. Log in to Realize and open the Tracking tab.
6. Click Account Tracking Setup.
7. Select Shopify and click Continue.
8. If you have finished the settings on Shopify from the previous steps, click
Continue one more time. If not, complete the previous steps on Shopify.
9. Click Connect Shopify.
10. Wait until the conversion creation is complete. Ensure the app is installed correctly. A green notification indicating a successful connection to Shopify should appear at the top of the page.
If something goes wrong with the automatic conversion creation, you can complete this process manually.
Are you a Shopify Plus user? Make sure to use Checkout Extensibility to track Start Checkout in the most accurate way. Shopify Basic users should not take any step to accurately track this event.
Best Practices
Upsell Apps
If your shop uses Shopify’s post-purchase upsell page, such as CartHook, AfterSell, or OrderBump, you will need to install the Pixel snippet on this page as well. Check a step-by-step guide in the Dev Center.
Apps That Bypass Shopify Checkout
Certain third-party applications—such as cash on delivery (COD) apps, upsell apps, and others—may bypass Shopify's standard checkout, preventing Taboola pixel events from firing. In these situations, verify if your third-party app offers the capability to integrate Taboola event tracking. For additional details, visit the Dev Center.
